How long can I visit Canada?

Visit Canada: Stay Duration, Requirements & Transcript Assistance
π How Long Can I Stay in Canada as a Visitor?
Most international visitors can stay in Canada for up to 6 months. However, the final duration of your stay is determined by a Canada Border Services Officer (CBSA) at the point of entry. If your stay is different from the standard 6 months, the officer will:
- Mark your passport with a departure date, or
- Issue a Visitor Record indicating your permitted duration.
If there’s no stamp in your passport, you can legally stay in Canada for 6 months from the date of entry or until your passport expires—whichever comes first. If you require a stamp and don't get one at a kiosk, ask a border officer directly.
π Visit the official IRCC website for more information.
βοΈ Extending Your Stay in Canada
If you want to remain in Canada beyond your authorized stay, you must apply for an extension at least 30 days before your current status expires.
